Julius William Tompa, 90, of Hamilton, entered into God's eternal care on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Compassionate Care Hospice Unit at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton.Born in Trenton, he resided in the Hamilton Township area for most of his life.He was a WWII U. S. Army veteran, and a current member of the V.F.W. Post #3525.Mr. Tompa served in the E.T.D. (Eastern Theatre of Operations), which was attached to the 8th Air Force in Britain, and was in the 9th Air Force while serving in Europe.He served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns.Jul (Red) Tompa retired from Trenton Works U.S. Steel after 33 years of dedicated service.He served 23 years as the president of the Trenton Works Federal Credit Union #1363.Julius was also a retiree of the Planning Department of NJ Department of Transportation.He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, a member and past president of the Happy Days Senior Citizens Club.Mr. Tompa enjoyed travelling, golfing, fishing, gardening, and billiards.He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.He was always there to lend a helping hand to his family, and he will be greatly missed by all.
Son of the late Alexander and Veronika Tompa; brother of the late Margaret, Alexander, and Albert Tompa; he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Olga Mary (Klein) Tompa; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Ann and Wayne Neelan of New Port Richey, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Gary S. and Deborah Tompa of Belle Meade, NJ.
